Welcome to Balsall Common Run Club your small, friendly, local club
Where adults of all abilities are welcome and everyone is treated as an individual.
Where adults of all abilities are welcome and everyone is treated as an individual.
Catering for adult runners of all standards from total beginners to ultra runners, we offer regular training sessions on Thursday evenings at 6.30pm and Saturday mornings at 9:00am starting from The Lant Sports and Community Centre in Meeting House Lane, Balsall Common (CV7 7GE).
Informal sessions may also be arranged on other days/times depending on demand and leader availability.
There is no requirement for you to be able to run a specific pace or distance before you join us - everyone is welcome.
Founded in 2014, we began as a loose collective of friends who came together to enjoy sociable runs around the village of Balsall Common and its surrounding areas. Since then, we have become affiliated to England Athletics (EA) and expanded, with more members joining us from the village and further afield.
Many of our members have progressed from being total beginners to taking part in 5 and 10k races, half marathons and marathons ….. with some going even further! However, there is no pressure to compete in events or races and those who simply fancy a gentle run on a sociable basis are just as welcome to join - whatever your running goals we are there for you.
We generally stop on after our runs for a drink, a coffee and a chat so it’s a great way to make friends as well as improve your fitness.
We also hold social events throughout the year e.g. quizzes, 'curryokes', Halloween and Christmas themed runs, some of which are used to raise money for charitable causes which mean a lot to our members.
"Balsall Common Run Club has become a second family to me. With its encouragement and support I have attempted and achieved many events over the last six years and become one of its run leaders. Here’s to many more years of active participation in the BCRC family."

"Since joining BCRC I’ve seen my running ability improve significantly, not only in pace, but in enjoyment levels too. It’s a friendly club that has made me feel welcome, supporting me in my running journey. Whether you are new to running or are training for a marathon, there is always someone that will help to train/support you. The club members range in ability and age, everyone is welcome and there is also a packed social calendar too to help you get to know your new running buddies better."

"I joined BCRC as a novice. It is a friendly, inclusive club for all running abilities with a strong focus on the joy of running and strong social side. You never run alone and there is always lots of support. You can join in fun team activities that mix things up, find routes around the village you didn't know existed, enter races you never thought you could do, cheer others on and celebrate after. Whilst I moved away from the area I still love being a distant running member of Team Red and Orange."

The Club usually offers five different pace groups including a run/walk group for those who are new to running or returning after injury or a long break. Our sessions are coordinated by qualified run leaders who hold Leadership in Running Fitness Licences from UK Athletics.
A free trial session is offered to all prospective members so you can ‘try before you buy’ and make sure we are the right club for you.
To arrange your free trial session, or for more information, please email our membership secretary at membershipbcrc2014@gmail.com
If you have questions about what we offer or want to find out more about how our sessions work please get in touch with us.
