Despite being very active as a child I was never a runner - avoiding cross country running at school if at all possible.

Fast forward to me as an adult , I remained active but with absolutely no interest in running.
Then, in December 2013, I was challenged to run a minimum of a mile a day every day that month. And, never one to avoid a challenge, I did exactly that and was hooked!
In 2014 Balsall Common Run Club was formed and I agreed to become its secretary and a little while later a qualified run leader.
I’m now Chair and still enjoy running with our new runners. I’m not quick, and never will be, but I absolutely love running with new & improving runners and showing them just what they’re capable of.

I love being a run leader and supporting other runners on their journeys as it feels like I am able to return the support I have been given. I also became the Club Secretary in 2024.

Last year I happily became the Membership Secretary to help endorse and recruit new members. I’m also the Club's Lead Welfare Officer.

With the Club's help I took the plunge to sign up for a half and then full marathon (I was lucky enough to get the Club's London Marathon place in 2019) but a local run and chat with fellow members is the main thing. I became a Run Leader as it's great to see others get into and improve their running with our help. I became Club Treasurer in 2024
Run Leader
I simply love running - never happier than when I’m plodding in the fresh air whether on local streets, country lanes or fields and mountains (often spotted in colourful tights or random costumes). If I can inspire someone else to love it too then even better.
Run Leader
I joined the club in 2017 when I moved to Balsall Common. It was a great way to make new friends and find new running routes. I became a run leader in the summer of 2024, I’m not sure why I didn’t do it sooner! The club has a great social scene and family feel about it.

Run Leader
I’ve been running since 2012 and joined the Club in 2016. As a run leader, I enjoy supporting others in their running journeys. I’ve raced a variety of distances, from 5ks to marathons, but what I value most about running is the social connections it brings and the fitness benefits it provides.
Run Leader
I joined the Club in 2016 having never run before and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. The Club is inclusive and supportive of all, regardless of ability. It’s also very sociable and I have made lifelong friends along the way.
